G'day
My name is Sam Alexander and on Saturday 25th February 2012 I commenced a solo 5,330km journey on horseback on the Bicentennial National Trail (BNT).
My ride commenced at Healesville, Victoria from where I basically headed east and then north until the end of the year, hopefully making it to the completion of the trail in Cooktown, in far north Queensland.
My overall goal is to utilise this unique ride to promote the importance of medical care in rural Australia and raise awareness of the important work done by the Royal Flying Doctor Service. I am seeking to raise funds through donations to support the work of the Flying Doctor Service.
Along the way I will be visiting local high schools and communities to promote my cause. If you are interested in joining me for a section of the trail or would like me to visit your school/community, please contact me.
I completed the first section of the trail from Healesville to Omeo on 21 March where I spent a few days resting the horses and myself. On 28 March, we left Omeo on the next section to Canberra. To see where I am now plotted on a Google Map, click the following link - Track me.
--Back on the trail 15th of May--

Started the trail in Healesville on the 25th of Feb with a great send off crew and 2 additional riders (Ken and Jamie).
